Children of the Grave

BLACK SABBATH

About This Song

What else can be said about this epic band that hasn’t been said? Without them, heavy metal of all sub-genrés wouldn’t exist. They are the originators of heavy metal and this track is one of their heaviest. Listen to Children of the Grave from the 1971 album Master of Reality. Via Wikipedia: “The song lyrically continues with the same anti-war themes brought on by “War Pigs” and “Electric Funeral” from Paranoid, adding in Geezer Butler’s pacifist ideals of non-violent civil disobedience.”

I can’t recommend it enough to listen to Ozzy Osbourne, Bill Ward, Geezer Butler, and Tony Iommi. Their music sounds just as amazing and heavy today as ever.

LYRICS /

Revolution in their minds – the children start to march
Against the world which they have to live in
Oh! The hate that’s in their hearts
They’re tired of being pushed around and told just what to do
They’ll fight the world until they’ve won and love comes flowing through

Children of tomorrow live in the tears that fall today
Will the sunrise of tomorrow bring in peace in any way?
Must the world live in the shadow of atomic fear?
Can they win the fight for peace or will they disappear?

So you children of the world, listen to what I say
If you want a better place to live in, spread the words today
Show the world that love is still alive, you must be brave
Or you children of today are Children of the Grave, Yeah!
